■ Summary
This time, we conducted a survey on the attitudes of 111 male and 111 female respondents of Generation Z (18-26 years old) who answered that they "always need alone time a day" and who are married, regarding their views on marriage among Generation Z who value their alone time.
First, 95.5% of Generation Z respondents want to spend as much time alone after marriage as they do now, with many of them seeking "time to devote to my hobbies" (63.2%) and "time to refresh my mind and body" (60.4%) as reasons for doing so. Next, "wallet (money management)" (59.5%) was the most common item respondents wanted to have separately with their partner, with respondents citing reasons such as "wanting to spend money freely on my hobbies and interests" (71.2%). On the other hand, not only is there a strong desire to "make time for the two of us on a regular basis" (63.4%), but 77.5% also answered that they need a wedding ring, indicating that even Generation Z who seek time alone have some non-negotiable needs.
The survey revealed a duality in the new view of marriage held by Generation Z. While respecting personal time and financial freedom, they also want to value their marriage with their partner. The tendency to value the "proof of two people" in the form of a wedding ring while still placing importance on the personal sphere conveys the desire to value the bond with one's partner in married life while also valuing the individual. We believe that no matter what time of year, wedding rings that can prove the bond with one's partner will continue to be sought after by many people.
